The Dearing Connections
Sue Sylvester, the library’s archivist, has dedicated countless hours to researching the first-generation family of Anton and Rose (Lemke) Dearing.

Now on display at the library are photos and artifacts from the Dearing family—whose history connects to many family lines still rooted in our community today.

Click the link below to explore the 11-part series written by Sue Sylvester and in partnership with the Maple Lake Messenger published the series from July through November 2025. The series shares the stories, challenges, and resilience of these early families. Also included is a detailed family tree created by Don Dittberner of Paw Publications, featuring Generations I, II, III, and IV.

Looking ahead, the Dearing family farm in Corinna Township is set to reach an incredible milestone—Century Farm designation in 2028.
