wmjAnderson writes poetry and non-fiction from his home Champlin, Minnesota, right across the Mississippi River from Anoka, the Halloween Capitol of the World, where he was born and raised.  He is a member of Cracked Walnut, the League of Minnesota Poets. Active in our writing community, William is the facilitator and host or co-host of the Cracked Walnut Writing Collective, and two reading series: Writer’s Night Out and the 5th Wednesday Reading Series. William is a member of the Loft Literary Center, Rain Taxi and the Sisters in Crime. He is the founder of Wordwhipper Press.

His alter ego, A. W. Powers, has created the Psychic Guardian Angel series, the Psychic Sidekick series, and author of the thriller Properly Dead, all published by Marlowe and Vane. He is the co-author, with C. N. Buchholz, of the thriller In Too Deep, and the paranormal thriller The Song Calls, with Laurie Lynnsee, both published by the Mayhem Books imprint of Wordwhipper Press. In his spare time, he writes mysteries and horror. He is trying to understand how his hometown may have influenced his writing, or if it was the ghost that shared their home in North Minneapolis.
